2MCM were proud sponsors of an U11 Rugby Tour to Bath

2MCM have really enjoyed being part of the build up to a sensational rugby tour for a grassroots junior team in Knutsford,  Cheshire. Please see the following tour report sent to us by the club detailing their incredible trip.

Knutsford Junior Rugby Club continued their incredible success story on a recent Under 11s team tour of Bath, sponsored by 2MCM, Adept Contracts, Kingsford Financial planning, KHG Security & Sapling Farms.

The squad of 22, accompanied by family members, travelled by coach on Friday 04th March for a two night stay at Bath YHA. The packed itinerary saw the team up early the following morning for a half-day training session at Bath Rugby Club given by Bath Training Academy, which was full of inspirational tips.

Next Knutsford’s Under 11s were guards of honour at an iconic Somerset derby as Bath took on Bristol at the famous Old Rec stadium, Bath Rugby Club's home since 1894. They welcomed the players onto the pitch before the game and took a perimeter walk at half time. The cheering crowd of more than 14,500 made it an unforgettable experience.

On Sunday the squad played a mini tournament hosted by Combe Down RFC with a local side from Avondale RFC. After tremendous play from Knutsford, one of the two teams made it into the final and brought the cup home after a decisive draw that went into extra time. The second Knutsford team came in third place after a cracking match. Everyone was rewarded with a delicious hot meal in the clubhouse afterwards thanks to our generous hosts.

As well as fun and laughter, the weekend cemented a real sense of togetherness, friendship and commitment amongst the boys. We’d like to thank 2MCM, Adept Contracts, Kingsford Financial planning, KHG Security & Sapling Farms for their support which has enabled the team to embrace new experiences, boosting their mental wellbeing and broadening their horizons.

2MCM are pleased to see the support given to the new Building Safety Bill . This robust package of legislative changes, in response to Dame Judith Hakitt's independent report "Building a Safer Future" issued in 2018, will aim to bring about positive change in modifying behaviours of those working in the built environment. The UK Government currently cites on their gov.org website that, "The risk to the public from fire is low and has decreased over recent years, but the tragedy of the Grenfell Tower Fire made clear that the current regime leaves too much space for poor practice, poor culture, poor accountability and poor management to take root". 2MCM are great believers in growth mindset and we hope all our close associates in the infrastructure sector adapt a positive outlook when seeking better ways to close up the accountability gaps and finding ways to improve our management culture. For example, when faced with programme pressure lets all collectively try not to underestimate the importance of good detailed design and having the wilpower to give it the time/resource level it really deserves. Good design needs reasonable time to make the right engineering choices especially when it comes to selecting products from a hugely vast array of options, then ensuring there is correct test data and, if expertise is sought from qualified individuals then engagement of their input needs to start earlier in the process so avoiding knowledge bypass. We as a business reflect regularly on our standards and therefore would like to think our current methods sit equal to or above the standards the Building Safety Bill will bring in for strengthening the regulation of construction products. We will, like many other professionals in our sector, look forward to reading the key definitions soon to be introduced in the forthcoming secondary legislation, which will identify in more detail how we work towards significant improvements in building safety.
